Country Music Hall of Famer Loretta Lynn is among an esteemed group of performers who will receive a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in January.
Lynn joins Leonard Cohen, Michael Jackson, Bobby Darin, David “Honeyboy” Edwards, Andre Previnand Clark Terry in receiving the honor, which will be given during an invitation-only event on Saturday, Jan. 30, in Los Angeles. A formal acknowledgment will also be made during the Grammy telecast, on Jan. 31.
Another Country Music Hall of Famer, guitarist Harold Bradley, is also getting a big prize from the Grammy folks: He’ll receive a Trustees Award during the same Jan. 30 event. (Bradley, by the way, played on many of Lynn’s biggest hits, and his brother, Owen Bradley, was Lynn’s producer of choice.)
The touring celebration of female musicians known as Lilith Fair returns in the summer of 2010 (after a pretty lengthy breather), and Nashville/Middle Tennessee/related talent makes a solid, stylistically broad showing in the initial list of performers.
Among the talented (and locally related) women scheduled to hit Lilith stages next year: country voices Emmylou Harris, Miranda Lambert and Jennifer Nettles (with her duo Sugarland, of course), pop/rock star Sheryl Crow, pop singer/Ten Out of Tenn member Butterfly Boucher and dance-pop troublemaker Ke$ha, among others.
“I am excited to be part of a tour that celebrates and acknowledges talented women from all genres of music,” Lambert said in a statement.
Confirmed stops for the 2010 jaunt include major American metropolises — New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Atlanta (no Nashville yet) — along with some international stops (London, Toronto). More cities will be announced. Details: LilithFair.com.
The American Red Cross (off of Charlotte Avenue) are seeking artists to perform during their busiest hours. As of now, they are filling performance slots from 10 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., Monday-Friday. They are providing a 10x10 stage area with a small PA. The room only fits 25-30 at a time, so you may not need a PA.

This is an excellent way to give back during the Holiday’s!
Thursday evening I entertained the FBI at the Opryland Hotel for their annual Christmas party. They were quite an interesting bunch! Needless to say, it was a fun group to sing for! This is a quick pose out in the Delta area - looks really festive in there.

Friday, December 4th had Kenny headed to Vegas to surprise Sammy Hagar at the official grand opening for his Cabo Wabo Cantina on the Strip. I want to hang with Hagar at the Cantina. Cabo would beat this weather ANY day.
